About this photo:
Just like the aurora, photographing frozen bubbles seems like a good fit for Fairbanks. Unfortunately, we have about seven months a year of ample opportunities to experiment. Here is one of my first attempts. It is very trendy right now and I am nothing if not trendy. I did have to put a rubber band around my bell bottoms to keep the snow out of my boots. This is looking south through a partially frozen bubble at a rising sun over the Alaska Range at about 11:00am on January 5th. It was about +5F, so I may try this again when it is -30F or so.
Settings and processing:
Canon 5DIII, Canon 100mm macro, 1/320 sec, f/3.2, iso 400, Lightroom.
