About this photo:
Early Thursday morning, (Aug 31, 2017), ~12:30am-2:00am
Fairbanks Alaska, a little ways out the Elliot Highway, partly cloudy, fog, +43F
First time out this year chasing aurora. Pulled into my spot about 12:40 and the show had already began. Jumped out, set up, and started shooting. By 1:00am the show was mostly over. By 1:05 the clouds had moved in and the fog had taken over in the low area I usually shoot. When I arrived back home about 2:00am, the skies had cleared a bit and there was another little show going on. This shot was facing south. It’s always fun to start a new season.
Settings and processing:
Canon 5DIII, Canon 16-35mm, 3-6 sec, f/2.8, iso 1600, Lightroom
